An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 20th minute of play forced Fillos de Breogán's goalkeeper Garibaldo Quijana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Orti Sánchez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Arnout Reekers stood somewhat misplaced when Orti Sánchez came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 30 minute. Garibaldo Quijana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 40th minute of the match. In the 41st minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Fillos de Breogán's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Garibaldo Quijana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Lars Meesters sped through Fillos de Breogán's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Garibaldo Quijana. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Garibaldo Quijana saved Fillos de Breogán from getting behind. In the 68th minute Orti Sánchez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Garibaldo Quijana in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Egbert Nijveldt hit a great ball. Garibaldo Quijana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was a well-played corner which Calisto Abril managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Lars Meesters hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Netherlands were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
