When Gustaaf Groeneveldt came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustaaf Groeneveldt couldn't finish the play. Ionică Bădilescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurel Teodoroiu in the 14th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ionică Bădilescu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ionică Bădilescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 43 minutes into the match, FC PIETROSUL -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Ionică Bădilescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 45 minutes, Arnout Reekers successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The FC PIETROSUL -MM- players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 0-3.

In the 89th minute, Horaţiu Pintilie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ionică Bădilescu acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 90th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emil Ştoia, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute.
