Thanks to some nice moves Harri Kaine could shoot a difficult shot in the 12th minute, which Arnout Reekers however easily saved by the left post. In the 13th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tod Bridgeworth was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 17th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustaaf Groeneveldt to maneuver through the defense. In the 19th play minute Calvin Townsley came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Arnout Reekers. 1-1. In the 21st minute, Wim Wilmes made a precise shot to the right of Tod Bridgeworth. Carlisle United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After 27 minutes Carlisle United's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. After 32 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Egbert Nijveldt. Jake Marriott's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 33rdth minute, Arnout Reekers skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. In the 40th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tod Bridgeworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gustaaf Groeneveldt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
