The crowd rose to their feet as AC Perugia Calcio's Benediktas Kučinskas slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arnout Reekers. That made the score 1-1 after 6 minutes of play. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Benediktas Kučinskas sent off a good shot on target. Brede Bonk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wim Wilmes, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Gustaaf Groeneveldt came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gustaaf Groeneveldt couldn't finish the play. 19 minutes into the match, AC Perugia Calcio's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Brede Bonk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Benediktas Kučinskas sent off a good shot on target. AC Perugia Calcio's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Prospero Aztore in the 22nd minute. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lukas Bambas in the 26th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 28th minute of play forced AC Perugia Calcio's goalkeeper Brede Bonk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 29 minutes AC Perugia Calcio's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. Gustaf Östlund thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Brede Bonk, a very annoying self made goal in the 29th minute which led to 1-2. Brede Bonk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Meesters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brede Bonk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 38th minute of play. Prospero Aztore hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. 42 minutes into the match, AC Perugia Calcio's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Brede Bonk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

AC Perugia Calcio's Edward Jonasson was substituted for Ulf Finsberg. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lukas Bambas was the one to do the kick off. Brede Bonk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 55th minute of play. Brede Bonk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lars Meesters in the 59th minute of the match. In the 60th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. AC Perugia Calcio's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Netherlands's Lars Meesters to fire away a dangerous shot which Brede Bonk despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Brede Bonk made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. Lars Meesters ran back to his position shaking his head. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 92nd minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edward Jonasson might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnout Reekers. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Jonasson ran back to his position shaking his head. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lukas Bambas in the 97th minute of play. When the match was over Netherlands could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than AC Perugia Calcio throughout the match.
