The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 5th minute of play forced Florida United's goalkeeper Gabriel Ibar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 6 minutes into the match, Florida United's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Gabriel Ibar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 8 minutes into the match, Florida United's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Gabriel Ibar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nuralp Eracar in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Florida United's Gabriel Ibar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 39th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Natalio Heriberto dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Arnout Reekers, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Florida United's Gabriel Ibar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 51st minute of play. Gabriel Ibar made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. In the 58th minute of the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gabriel Ibar saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 63rd minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Ibar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gabriel Ibar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 64th minute of the match. 65 minutes into the game, Florida United's Natalio Heriberto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arnout Reekers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 69th minute, Mark Bållström left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Florida United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. 75 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Nuralp Eracar came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wim Wilmes scored 3-1 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gabriel Ibar, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 78th minute Nuralp Eracar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Gabriel Ibar made a huge save. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 88th match minute, Florida United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Branco to maneuver through the defense. The Florida United players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
