Jeromos Petres came out of the goal and Frank Sachs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With his leg Tommy Kahn managed to avoid a goal in the 46thth minute, when Szombathelyi Haladás's József Sugár fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell József Sugár to make the kick off. With 52 minutes on the clock, Sven Krakouer commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 52nd minute of the game. Adrian Dreifuss charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adrian Dreifuss the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
