Felipe Barreto took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Martin Eriksson. Kroton F.C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 14th minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Eriksson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 18 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Viriato Moura. Wilson Amorim acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 19th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Veli Vefa. In the 21st minute, Felipe Barreto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Martin Eriksson was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Johannes Støle could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. 28 minutes into the match, Kroton F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Martin Eriksson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kroton F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Severino Messias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. After the first half Portugal were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Severino Messias in the 54th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Veli Vefa might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilson Amorim. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Veli Vefa ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 57th minute Severino Messias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 58th minute Kroton F.C. were awarded a corner. Patrick Vieira went to the cornerflag to take it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Severino Messias in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wilson Amorim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Johannes Støle scored 2-2 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 66th minute Johannes Støle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. In the 95th minute, Patrick Vieira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Kroton F.C. had played much better football throughout.
