With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Jan Hendrik Saarberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julian Blanco struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Arnout Reekers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Internacional de Lisboa. Vladimiro Leão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 23rd minute of the match. 23 minutes into the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vladimiro Leão. Internacional de Lisboa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gijsbert ter Kruimer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 28th minute, Netherlands's Egbert Nijveldt seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Egbert Nijveldt the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Netherlands protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Egbert Nijveldt had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 27 minutes into the game, one of Netherlands:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 1-1 came in the 30th minute when Samuel Aires all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. Vladimiro Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 36th minute of play. Vladimiro Leão came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Lars Meesters. But to his dismay, Lars Meesters quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Julian Blanco charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Julian Blanco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 44 minutes, Almiro Seabra mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Internacional de Lisboa and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 43rd minute of the game. One of Internacional de Lisboa:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Netherlands:s goal.

Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Blanco in the 58th minute of the match. Vladimiro Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Meesters, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Vladimiro Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Netherlands defense, Jan Hendrik Saarberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. The Netherlands fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnout Reekers should have stopped the shot. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan Hendrik Saarberg in the 69th minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Vladimiro Leão made a huge save. Internacional de Lisboa's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt scored to the left of an out of position Vladimiro Leão, making the score, 2-4. Internacional de Lisboa's Abel Alves was substituted for Julian Blanco. In the 77th minute, Abel Alves left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Internacional de Lisboa fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-4. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Vladimiro Leão made a huge save. Almiro Seabra kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Internacional de Lisboa's goalkeeper Vladimiro Leão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan Hendrik Saarberg in the 93rd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Netherlands had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
