With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jhalmar Montes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Oswaldo Rivera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Jhalmar Montes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 7th minute, Marcos Navarro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Oswaldo Rivera came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Southwark fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oswaldo Rivera couldn't finish the play. Humberto Rosales showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joselito Umaña in the 14th minute of the match. Humberto Rosales made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Ivan Brizuela sent off a good shot on target. Barnard Castle's Ivan Brizuela got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Barnard Castle's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Isaac Ramos in the 25th minute. The corner led Barnard Castle's Isaac Ramos to fire away a dangerous shot which Humberto Rosales despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 35th minute Oswaldo Rivera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jhalmar Montes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ivan Brizuela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Rosales having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 42 minutes, Humberto Rosales successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Marcos Navarro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Southwark's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcos Navarro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jhalmar Montes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcos Navarro to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Barnard Castle's zone, Marcos Navarro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jhalmar Montes came out of the goal and Marcos Navarro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos Navarro in the 55th minute of play forced Barnard Castle's goalkeeper Jhalmar Montes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Barnard Castle's Jhalmar Montes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Barnard Castle from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Joselito Umaña put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Humberto Rosales. Ivan Brizuela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Humberto Rosales tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Humberto Rosales was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Humberto Rosales made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joselito Umaña in the 87th minute of play. In the 97th minute, Ivan Brizuela got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Barnard Castle's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
