The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Curdridge's goalkeeper Marvin Giron, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Curdridge's Marvin Giron got control of the ball when Isaac Ramirez tried to sneak it across the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, Pontefract City's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Arango came free, but Raúl Orobio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eraldo Gamero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Raúl Orobio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Raúl Orobio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrique Arango in the 16th minute of the match. Pontefract City's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgardo Medrano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marvin Giron breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Curdridge's Marvin Giron proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Curdridge from getting a goal against them. Eraldo Gamero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Raúl Orobio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Enrique Arango was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Eraldo Gamero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Curdridge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eraldo Gamero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ulises Hidalgo made a great header on Curdridge's corner, it was just that Pontefract City's Raúl Orobio managed to reach the ball for a save. 55 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Curdridge's Enrique Arango fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Pontefract City's Gilberto Mayen got a free kick in the 57th minute. If Enrique Arango had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pontefract City's Raúl Orobio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Pontefract City from getting a goal against them. In the 73rd minute Agustin Fornos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marvin Giron saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Pontefract City's goalkeeper Raúl Orobio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eraldo Gamero. If Enrique Arango had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roberto Ocampo kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the game, Eraldo Gamero recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Raúl Orobio. Eraldo Gamero showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Allan Montes's late challenge caught a Pontefract City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Allan Montes helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Curdridge getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Allan Montes hit a great ball. In the 89th minute of the match Eliseo Coreas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Raúl Orobio skillfully saved the ball. If Agustin Fornos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Curdridge's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
