Alonso Corrales kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Paz came free, but Josue Orellana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jhalmar Duarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Saul Sifon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Luis Rivera came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the El Salvador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Rivera couldn't finish the play. Jaime Paz struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Josue Orellana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Accrington. El Salvador's Luis Rivera got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alonso Corrales kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. A collision led to Accrington getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Libardo Salguero hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jhalmar Duarte in the 44th minute of play forced Accrington's goalkeeper Saul Sifon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Libardo Salguero's late challenge caught a El Salvador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Libardo Salguero helped the player get up and apologised. In the 48th match minute, Accrington was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Libardo Salguero to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jhalmar Duarte in the 49th minute of play forced Accrington's goalkeeper Saul Sifon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

After 53 played minutes Jhalmar Duarte rounded Accrington's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-1. After a rather tough play, Accrington's Marcos Ortiz got a free kick in the 56th minute. After some careless play in the Accrington defense, Jhalmar Duarte kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Saul Sifon. The Accrington fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Saul Sifon should have stopped the shot. Josue Orellana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Castaneda in the 64th minute of play. Luis Rivera succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-3 in the 65th playminute. If Jhalmar Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mariano Castaneda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 77 minutes into the game, Accrington's Jaime Paz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Josue Orellana made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Luis Rivera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saul Sifon having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Accrington's zone, Jhalmar Duarte stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Saul Sifon came out of the goal and Jhalmar Duarte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 92nd minute of the match William Ancheta shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Josue Orellana showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The El Salvador supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing El Salvador would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
