Instead the ball went too high, a missed opportunity for Congresbury. In the 25th minute, Oswaldo Noyola made a precise shot to the right of Daniel Castro. Stanley FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The supporters of Stanley FC booed when Congresbury was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ladislao Del Cid didn't get a good kick on the ball. Enrique Coreas was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Rolando Ulloa. Daniel Castro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oswaldo Noyola in the 43rd minute of play. A collision led to Congresbury getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Ladislao Del Cid hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Oswaldo Noyola made the kick off in the second half. If Oswaldo Noyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Congresbury's Enrique Coreas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victor Zaldaña in the 68th minute of play. Benjamín Salamanca struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Daniel Castro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Congresbury. Oswaldo Noyola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 83rd minute of the match, Eliseo Guerra tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Daniel Castro saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Oswaldo Noyola managed to get in a good position for a shot. Congresbury's supporters rose to their feet, but Oswaldo Noyola was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Daniel Castro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edwin Aguilar kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. In the 89th minute, Stanley FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Fuentes fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 92 minutes into the game, Stanley FC's Angel Carballo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Enrique Coreas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Eliseo Guerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Castro having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Stanley FC fully deserved thier win.
