SantaAna's Salvador Menjivar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Asad in the 65th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Jorge Leiva put it in 2-3 from a short distance just to the right of Salvador Menjivar. Oswaldo Reyes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, SantaAna's Edgardo Carrillo got a free kick in the 71st minute. If Edgardo Carrillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd minute Oswaldo Reyes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Moreira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Félix Suarez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manuel Moreira having to make a save. SantaAna's Oswaldo Reyes got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Félix Suarez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oswaldo Reyes in the 94th minute of play forced C.D Luis Angel Firpo's goalkeeper Manuel Moreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SantaAna's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
