Gilberto Tristan came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Hereford's Juan Fidencio. But to his dismay, Juan Fidencio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Gilberto Tristan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Fidencio, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 27th minute, Alvaro Irrintzi made a precise shot to the right of Gilberto Tristan. Club America Zacatecano's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Gilberto Tristan came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Hereford's Alvaro Irrintzi. But to his dismay, Alvaro Irrintzi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Alvaro Irrintzi struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Gilberto Tristan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hereford. Juan Fidencio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Gilberto Tristan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, Alvaro Irrintzi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gilberto Tristan. Club America Zacatecano's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alvaro Irrintzi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. 46 minutes into the match, Alvaro Irrintzi notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Club America Zacatecano's Gilberto Tristan. Gilberto Tristan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Juan Fidencio to make the kick off. Ciro Bernad sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Severiano Playo's late challenge caught a Club America Zacatecano's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 67th minute, Juan Fidencio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gilberto Tristan. The goal made the score 0-6. The crowd rose to their feet as Juan Fidencio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gilberto Tristan. That made the score 0-7 in the 80 minute of play. With a little luck, Club America Zacatecano's Gilberto Tristan got control of the ball when Alvaro Irrintzi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gilberto Tristan was a little too slow when Juan Fidencio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 88th minute. The score was now 0-8. In the 93rd minute there was a penalty for Hereford. Godfredo Damario stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Gilberto Tristan. 0-9. Gilberto Tristan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Fidencio in the 97th minute of play. With his leg Gilberto Tristan managed to avoid a goal in the 99thth minute, when Hereford's Alvaro Irrintzi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.
