Club Rayados's Isidoro Ipar got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With 33 minutes on the clock, Guido Crescencio commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee gave Washington a penalty, 35 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Norberto Hartz, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Club Rayados's Gilberto Rocio. 1-2. Club Rayados's supporters crossed their fingers, but Romeo Suero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

In the 92nd match minute, Club Rayados was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidoro Ipar to maneuver through the defense. Gilberto Rocio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tadeo Urritz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Club Rayados supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Washington's performance. The match ended with a win for Washington.
