The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of CRUZ AZUL 19 booed when Catinzaco AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaias Lehior didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adrian Cerilo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aristides Pancho in the 9th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 19th minute by Pedro Vincent got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ubaldo Paskal kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Eduardo Gaizko was a little too slow when Pedro Vincent got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 25th minute. The score was now 1-0. An unexpected shot in the 30th minute by Celso Veremundo got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Eduardo Gaizko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Vincent's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. A collision led to CRUZ AZUL 19 getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Ubaldo Paskal hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 53rd minute Pedro Vincent shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Gaizko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 57th minute, Guaberto Cugat hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Celso Veremundo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eduardo Gaizko was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Aristides Pancho struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Adrian Cerilo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CRUZ AZUL 19. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pedro Vincent in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eduardo Gaizko prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Celso Veremundo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Eduardo Gaizko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Catinzaco AFC fans cheered their team off the field, for while CRUZ AZUL 19 had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
