Bruno Luzaide might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rodolfo Ostots. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bruno Luzaide ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 15th minute Raimundo Dantae shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Ostots saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aquiles Jaunzuria's late challenge caught a Catuna FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aquiles Jaunzuria helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Catuna FC booed when América was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aquiles Jaunzuria didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute, Bruno Luzaide made a precise shot to the right of Rodolfo Ostots. América's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Rodolfo Ostots made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Haritzeder in the 32nd minute of play. After some careless play in the Catuna FC defense, Agustin Nuxila kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eriberto Lauaxeta. The Catuna FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eriberto Lauaxeta should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aquiles Jaunzuria in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eriberto Lauaxeta saved Catuna FC from getting behind. Eriberto Lauaxeta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustin Nuxila, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the match, Catuna FC's goal looked a bit too open when Agustin Nuxila came free, but Eriberto Lauaxeta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Agustin Nuxila made a kick off. If Agustin Nuxila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Catuna FC's Bruno Luzaide slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rodolfo Ostots. That made the score 2-2 after 59 minutes of play. In the 63rdth minute of the game Agustin Nuxila who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Catuna FC's Eriberto Lauaxeta was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Fidel Lizardi managed to get in a good position for a shot. América's supporters rose to their feet, but Fidel Lizardi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eriberto Lauaxeta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
