With a little luck, Cruz Azul's Cristo Nalo got control of the ball when Benigno Enaut tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joel Arotza kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Gregorio Cresencio's late challenge caught a Sarmiento FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gregorio Cresencio helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Cruz Azul's Gregorio Cresencio got a free kick in the 12th minute. Romeo Muc charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Romeo Muc the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 15th minute, Romeo Muc hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristo Nalo made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Benigno Enaut sent off a good shot on target. Saul Dorio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th minute Zeledon Napier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fermin Enmanuel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adriana Espiridion hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. 30 minutes into the match, Cruz Azul's Braulio Silban broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Cruz Azul's Cristo Nalo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Cruz Azul from getting a goal against them. The audience was convinced that Saul Dorio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cristo Nalo was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. In the 37th match minute, Cruz Azul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gregorio Cresencio to maneuver through the defense. Sarmiento FC's Fermin Enmanuel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Astor Camerino in the 41st minute of play. If Saul Dorio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After a defensive mix-up in Sarmiento FC's zone, Zeledon Napier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fermin Enmanuel came out of the goal and Zeledon Napier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Casimiro Ferran charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Casimiro Ferran the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sarmiento FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 54th minute. Penalty! Braulio Silban walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. When Astor Camerino in the 59th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Fermin Enmanuel kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 0-1 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Benigno Enaut sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristo Nalo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saul Dorio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute, Astor Camerino fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Cruz Azul's Cristo Nalo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saul Dorio in the 72nd minute of play. Fermin Enmanuel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Astor Camerino in the 83rd minute of play. Saul Dorio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristo Nalo having to interfere. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cruz Azul's goalkeeper Cristo Nalo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Benigno Enaut received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Cristo Nalo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 90thth minute of the game Saul Dorio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cruz Azul's Cristo Nalo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saul Dorio in the 94th minute of play forced Cruz Azul's goalkeeper Cristo Nalo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zeledon Napier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Fermin Enmanuel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sarmiento FC's Benigno Enaut got a good chance for a goal in the 100th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
