Ignacio Abecia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Modesto Ignado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Cruz Azul Fútbol Club's Benicio Tono got a free kick in the 14th minute. Modesto Ignado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severiano Isaio in the 15th minute of play. If Natalio Jatsu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ignacio Abecia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Severiano Isaio scored 0-2 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Modesto Ignado, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 44th minute Ignacio Abecia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Modesto Ignado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Severiano Isaio made a kick off. Modesto Ignado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severiano Isaio, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cruz Azul Fútbol Club's goalkeeper Modesto Ignado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Modesto Ignado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severiano Isaio in the 75th minute of play. Cruz Azul Fútbol Club's Modesto Ignado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Natalio Jatsu in the 78th minute of play. Modesto Ignado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodolfo Fe's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. If Lorenzo Isadore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Guernica had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
