The coaching staff of Palmar protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Agustin Alvarez had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 15 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Palmar! Justino Llanos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leandro Sadurni, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Roberto Henric fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Conrado Ospin having to interfere. Ignacio Ederono kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. In the 42nd minute Palmar were awarded a corner. Damaso Tabb went to the cornerflag to take it. Palmar's Damaso Tabb was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Justino Llanos in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Guaberto Vermudo hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Raimundo Ostots kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Gogo Jurgi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Conrado Ospin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Ilixo in the 60th minute of play forced Ucrania's goalkeeper Justino Llanos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Palmar booed when Ucrania was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Venancio Goito didn't get a good kick on the ball.
