After 33 minutes of play, Germany's Frank Sachs made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. With a little luck, Germany's Tommy Kahn got control of the ball when Archibaldo Candamil tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Aurelio Vodanovic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelio Vodanovic in the 47th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

56 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Astrit Melisarov came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 60 minutes Germany's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Astrit Melisarov who took care of the corner kick. When Ladio Font fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Almazarrón's protests and gave Ladio Font a yellow card for diving instead. 64 minutes into the match, Frank Sachs had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Franco Bellucci. Almazarrón's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Frank Sachs was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The supporters of Germany booed when Almazarrón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bastian Roth didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tommy Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Astrit Melisarov in the 71st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelio Vodanovic in the 74th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 76 minutes of play, Almazarrón's Aurelio Vodanovic made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 97th minute, Frank Sachs got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Germany succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Almazarrón had controlled the match.
