In the 15th minute, Mariano Bazil got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hermengildo Txatxu hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Isidoro Bernebe came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by VILLAREAL FC's Oleg Lapikov. But to his dismay, Oleg Lapikov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. VILLAREAL FC's Oleg Lapikov got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Isidoro Bernebe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VILLAREAL FC. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hermengildo Txatxu during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of CF Leones booed when VILLAREAL FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermengildo Txatxu didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leon Constancio to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leon Constancio in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Isidoro Bernebe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to VILLAREAL FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play.
