In the 13th match minute, Club Santos Laguna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pablo Gerazan to maneuver through the defense. Arturo Lartaun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ubaldo Raitin in the 21st minute of play. Club Santos Laguna's Bernardo Karmel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Club Santos Laguna from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Club Santos Laguna defense, Biagio Di Martino kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bernardo Karmel. The Club Santos Laguna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bernardo Karmel should have stopped the shot. 38 minutes into the match, Club Santos Laguna's goal looked a bit too open when Wiktor Snäll came free, but Bernardo Karmel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Génesis's Wiktor Snäll slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Bernardo Karmel. That made the score 2-0 after 40 minutes of play. After some careless play in the Génesis defense, Gustavo Francis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arturo Lartaun. The Génesis fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arturo Lartaun should have stopped the shot.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gustavo Francis to strike the kick off in the second half. Léandre Ayewubo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Bernardo Karmel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bernardo Karmel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wiktor Snäll went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Club Santos Laguna's Bernardo Karmel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wiktor Snäll in the 58th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Génesis's Santo Uxio got a free kick in the 61st minute. Alvaro Lope's late challenge caught a Club Santos Laguna's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alvaro Lope helped the player get up and apologised. After 64 played minutes Génesis got a freekick which was hit by Alvaro Lope. After 66 minutes, Léandre Ayewubo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Génesis and the Club Santos Laguna players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Génesis's Léandre Ayewubo got a free kick in the 66th minute. Guido Quintun kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Dalmacio Mikelats was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 70th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 71st minute, Wiktor Snäll ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bernardo Karmel was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. 74 minutes into the match, Wiktor Snäll notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Club Santos Laguna's Bernardo Karmel. Bernardo Karmel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Génesis getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Santo Uxio hit a great ball. In the 83rd minute, Santo Uxio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wiktor Snäll took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bernardo Karmel. Bernardo Karmel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-1. Génesis's Arturo Lartaun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo Francis in the 91st minute of play. When Gaudencio Karmel fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Génesis's protests and gave Gaudencio Karmel a yellow card for diving instead. In the 92nd minute, Gaudencio Karmel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Génesis walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
