After some careless play in the Halcones de Mérida defense, Indartsu Vega kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Saturnino Dominguez. The Halcones de Mérida fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Saturnino Dominguez should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Orestes Football Club's Indartsu Vega got a free kick in the 11th minute. A collision led to Halcones de Mérida getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Ceferino Abancens hit a great ball. In the 20th minute Ceferino Abancens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro Filipo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Erubiel Remicio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Orestes Football Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Erubiel Remicio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Saturnino Dominguez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ceferino Abancens kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Ceferino Abancens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Mauro Filipo made a huge save. Orestes Football Club's Mauro Filipo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Orestes Football Club from getting a goal against them. 28 minutes into the game, Anacleto Etxatxu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mauro Filipo. Anacleto Etxatxu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Orestes Football Club's Mauro Filipo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Nastasio in the 35th minute of play. Jairo Rufo had several of the Orestes Football Club's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 40 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Mauro Filipo as he didn't even see the shot coming. If Zeledon Dominic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jairo Rufo was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Orestes Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Jairo Rufo came free, but Mauro Filipo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 53rd minute of the match Halcones de Mérida got a corner. Orestes Football Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Zeledon Dominic ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Halcones de Mérida's Zeledon Dominic to fire away a dangerous shot which Mauro Filipo despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. A collision led to Orestes Football Club getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Nicanor Roano hit a great ball. Mauro Filipo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jairo Rufo, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Saturnino Dominguez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erubiel Remicio in the 71st minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Jairo Rufo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro Filipo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jairo Rufo took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mauro Filipo. Mauro Filipo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Saturnino Dominguez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erubiel Remicio in the 79th minute. The audience was convinced that Jairo Rufo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mauro Filipo was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. 86 minutes into the match, Halcones de Mérida's goal looked a bit too open when Indartsu Vega came free, but Saturnino Dominguez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute, Ildefonso Leobardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Halcones de Mérida's Saturnino Dominguez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Halcones de Mérida from getting a goal against them. In the 90th match minute, Halcones de Mérida was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zeledon Dominic to maneuver through the defense. Mauro Filipo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jairo Rufo, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Many of Orestes Football Club's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Orestes Football Club may have spent more time on the ball, but Halcones de Mérida were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
