The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Douglas Zelaya fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rainham FC's protests and gave Douglas Zelaya a yellow card for diving instead. Carmelo Meza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mario Liborio in the 7th minute of the match. When Alberto Mora came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Rainham FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Mora couldn't finish the play. If Alberto Mora had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jaime Mora showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danilo Anaya in the 23rd minute of the match. During the 24th minute of the match Douglas Zelaya completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Douglas Zelaya a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 27th minute, Patricio Ayala hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rainham FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Zelvin Mejia was slow to take the kick. During this time Ripley United's players had a chance to rest. Zelvin Mejia made a great header on Ripley United's corner, it was just that Rainham FC's Jaime Mora managed to reach the ball for a save. Mario Liborio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Carmelo Meza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th match minute, Ripley United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elias Lovo to maneuver through the defense. Rainham FC's Mario Liborio got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Danilo Anaya to strike the kick off in the second half. Alberto Mora could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Carmelo Meza made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Danilo Anaya managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ripley United's supporters rose to their feet, but Danilo Anaya was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jaime Mora breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Guillermo Suarez during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Ripley United getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Guillermo Suarez hit a great ball. If Danilo Anaya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Ripley United defense, Alberto Mora kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carmelo Meza. The Ripley United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carmelo Meza should have stopped the shot. Jaime Mora made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Anaya in the 97th minute of play. Guillermo Suarez struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Jaime Mora didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ripley United.
