In the 3rd minute, Avilio Figueroa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 9 played minutes, Green Stars FC's Felipe Sanchez shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jorge Orellana came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Green Stars FC reached it. Januario Gallardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Orellana having to interfere. After 14 played minutes Shrewsbury got a freekick which was hit by Sarbelio Suarez. After 18 minutes, Januario Gallardo made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Shrewsbury's Jorge Orellana tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 22 minutes into the match, Green Stars FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcos Chavez came free, but Nelson Arango reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Braun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Arango having to interfere. 27 minutes into the match, Januario Gallardo notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Shrewsbury's Jorge Orellana. Jorge Orellana was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 31st minute Januario Gallardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Orellana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Douglas Peña advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-4 in the 33rd minute. Edgardo Hernández charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edgardo Hernández the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th minute, Edgardo Hernández hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jorge Orellana came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Green Stars FC's Januario Gallardo. But to his dismay, Januario Gallardo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Januario Gallardo in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jorge Orellana prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Victorino Quintanilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Orellana having to interfere. Januario Gallardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Green Stars FC booed when Shrewsbury was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Julio Braun didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 46 minutes, Januario Gallardo made it 0-6 with a short kick to the right side. Shrewsbury's Jorge Orellana tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcos Chavez made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgardo Hernández in the 53rd minute of play forced Green Stars FC's goalkeeper Nelson Arango to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Shrewsbury's Jorge Orellana proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Shrewsbury from getting a goal against them. Edgardo Hernández kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Jorge Ulloa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Green Stars FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jorge Ulloa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Orellana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jorge Ulloa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 68 minutes, Isaac Hernández mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Shrewsbury and the Green Stars FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Julio Braun kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Shrewsbury's goal looked a bit too open when Januario Gallardo came free, but Jorge Orellana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Victorino Quintanilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Jorge Orellana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorge Orellana came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Green Stars FC's Januario Gallardo. But to his dismay, Januario Gallardo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-8. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Januario Gallardo in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jorge Orellana prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Januario Gallardo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 91 minutes, Januario Gallardo made it 0-9 with a short kick to the right side. Shrewsbury's Jorge Orellana tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match was over Green Stars FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Shrewsbury throughout the match.
