Mauro Paz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patricio Murgas's late challenge caught a Whitby's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patricio Murgas helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Grove's Patricio Murgas got a free kick in the 10th minute. After 13 played minutes Grove got a freekick which was hit by Allan Posadas. In the 14th minute, Félix Barraza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Whitby's Josue Navas got a free kick in the 19th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Marcelo Cerritos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Saul Contrera. Whitby's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcelo Cerritos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Félix Barraza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronald Escalante having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Mauro Paz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Whitby fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After 38 minutes of play, Grove's Marcelo Cerritos made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Saul Contrera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marcelo Cerritos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 54thth minute of the game Marcelo Cerritos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Whitby's Saul Contrera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 58 minutes into the match, Whitby's goalkeeper Saul Contrera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antonio Duarte. Antonio Duarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Saul Contrera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Aguirrez charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jonathan Aguirrez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jonathan Aguirrez hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Through an outstanding action, after 70 minutes, Saul Contrera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ronald Escalante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mauro Paz, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Allan Posadas, 77 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauro Paz in the 80th minute of play forced Grove's goalkeeper Ronald Escalante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Whitby's Mauro Paz got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 85th minute, Félix Barraza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ronald Escalante was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Antonio Duarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Saul Contrera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 91 minutes into the game, Alfredo Liborio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grove's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Whitby the free kick. After 95 minutes Grove's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jhonnatan Montes who took care of the corner kick. Grove's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
