With a little luck, Whitby's Saul Contrera got control of the ball when Cesar Flores tried to sneak it across the goal line. Patricio Prado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Saul Contrera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Peterborough AFC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Alexander Lozano hit a great ball. Jhonnatan Montes took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Zelvin Zapata. Peterborough AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Peterborough AFC booed when Whitby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Paz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Saul Contrera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cesar Flores, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Zelvin Zapata showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Paz in the 34th minute of the match. After 35 minutes, Misael Uranga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Peterborough AFC and the Whitby players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 35th match minute, Peterborough AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Misael Uranga to maneuver through the defense. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Félix Barraza couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd minute Félix Barraza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zelvin Zapata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Félix Barraza made the kick off in the second half. Mauro Paz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 53rd minute, Peterborough AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Félix Barraza fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Cesar Flores managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peterborough AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cesar Flores was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Whitby's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
