After 16 played minutes Honduras Britanica got a freekick which was hit by Avilio Monzon. Primitivo Portillo made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Erick Villatoro sent off a good shot on target. Jorge Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Botello having to interfere. When Jorge Lara came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Honduras Britanica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Lara couldn't finish the play. Oswaldo Botello showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Lara in the 33rd minute of the match. Primitivo Portillo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Omar Díaz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Omar Díaz in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Primitivo Portillo saved Honduras Britanica from getting behind. 41 minutes into the game, Jorge Lara cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Oswaldo Botello was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Omar Díaz made a kick off. Primitivo Portillo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Omar Díaz in the 52nd minute of play. In the 53rd minute, Omar Díaz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Primitivo Portillo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Omar Díaz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Primitivo Portillo having to interfere. In the 64th match minute, Honduras Britanica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carmelo Del Cid to maneuver through the defense. In the 67th minute there was a penalty for Northampton. Ronald Moreno stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Primitivo Portillo. 2-2. Northampton's Omar Díaz got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Omar Bustamante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Botello having to interfere. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Honduras Britanica's goalkeeper Primitivo Portillo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Erick Villatoro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Lara in the 91st minute of play forced Northampton's goalkeeper Oswaldo Botello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jorge Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
