Spectators: 7547 (Terracing: 5776, Seating: 1771, VIP seats: 0) MARATHON's Julio Coreas started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Marvin Ayala kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. In the 11th minute Miguel Espindola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Selvin Carranza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rony Verdugo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Selvin Carranza having to interfere. The supporters of Stratford-upon-Avon City booed when MARATHON was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eraldo Navas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rony Verdugo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Shawn Batres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raúl Alvarenga having to interfere. Raúl Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julio Coreas in the 26th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Miguel Espindola got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Rony Verdugo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Selvin Carranza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rony Verdugo in the 36th minute of the match. Selvin Carranza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rony Verdugo's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Rony Verdugo put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Selvin Carranza. In the 43rd minute, Pedro Bentos sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Stratford-upon-Avon City's Raúl Alvarenga didn't even have to move. Stratford-upon-Avon City were furious when Yasir Berrueta was red carded, 45 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 45 minutes into the game, one of Stratford-upon-Avon City:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Raúl Alvarenga, was totally fooled by MARATHON's Pedro Bentos, who 48 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Miguel Espindola was the one to do the kick off. Julio Coreas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Julio Coreas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Raúl Alvarenga was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Julio Coreas in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Raúl Alvarenga prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Raúl Alvarenga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julio Coreas, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. When the match clock showed 73 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Julio Coreas sped through Stratford-upon-Avon City's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Raúl Alvarenga. Miguel Espindola took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Selvin Carranza. Selvin Carranza dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Selvin Carranza made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Miguel Espindola sent off a good shot on target. When Miguel Espindola came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Stratford-upon-Avon City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miguel Espindola couldn't finish the play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
