Henry Bermudez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Northampton United's Alejandro Aguirrez slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Selvin Carranza. That made the score 1-0 after 14 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shawn Batres in the 18th minute of play forced Northampton United's goalkeeper Mario Valenzuela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alejandro Aguirrez in the 22nd minute of play forced MARATHON's goalkeeper Selvin Carranza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mario Valenzuela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julio Coreas, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. If Pedro Rico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Northampton United's Mario Valenzuela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shawn Batres in the 28th minute of play. In the 32nd minute Julio Coreas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mario Valenzuela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 33rd minute, Julio Coreas made a precise shot to the right of Mario Valenzuela. Northampton United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 38 minutes into the match, MARATHON's goalkeeper Selvin Carranza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henry Bermudez. Mario Valenzuela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julio Coreas in the 42nd minute of play. Shawn Batres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alejandro Aguirrez made a kick off. Alejandro Aguirrez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Selvin Carranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henry Bermudez in the 56th minute of play. A collision led to MARATHON getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Pedro Rico hit a great ball. Alejandro Aguirrez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Selvin Carranza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. In the 62nd match minute, Northampton United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Will Barragan to maneuver through the defense. If Henry Bermudez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Alejandro Aguirrez came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Northampton United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alejandro Aguirrez couldn't finish the play. In the 71st minute, Eraldo Navas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Shawn Batres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mario Valenzuela having to interfere. In the 77th minute Alejandro Aguirrez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Selvin Carranza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 79 minutes into the match, Alejandro Aguirrez notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of MARATHON's Selvin Carranza. Selvin Carranza was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Shawn Batres got free with Mario Valenzuela in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 83rd match minute, Northampton United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Will Barragan to maneuver through the defense. Julio Coreas succeeded in the game's 87th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-2. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
