Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Julio Carrillo to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Julio Carrillo notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Altrincham's Hector Anaya. Benji Quintanilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Omar Lara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Sutton in Ashfield AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sutton in Ashfield AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
