The attack was good, but when Mario Arellano in the 5th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Felipe Pérez hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Ladislao Villacorta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmelo Barrera in the 8th minute of the match. Agustin Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Lorenzo Fornos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 16thth minute tested the skills of Josue Sifon when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Mario Arellano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ladislao Villacorta didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mario Arellano went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Mario Arellano scored 0-2 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ladislao Villacorta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Exeter City's Salvador Parada got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Josue Sifon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto Suarez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the last second Josue Sifon throw himself and got hold of the ball when Augusto Suarez in the 38thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. After 39 played minutes Exeter City got a freekick which was hit by Salvador Parada. 49 minutes into the match, Torquay FC's Lorenzo Fornos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Josue Sifon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mario Arellano to strike the kick off in the second half. Torquay FC's Ladislao Villacorta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Torquay FC from getting a goal against them. Carmelo Barrera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ladislao Villacorta having to interfere. 67 minutes into the match, Exeter City's goal looked a bit too open when Augusto Suarez came free, but Josue Sifon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner led to Exeter City's Rony Duarte getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Ladislao Villacorta acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 75th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Franklin Alvarenga. 76 minutes into the match, Torquay FC's goalkeeper Ladislao Villacorta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carmelo Barrera. After a rather tough play, Exeter City's Marcos Quintanilla got a free kick in the 81st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Exeter City's zone, Lorenzo Fornos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Josue Sifon came out of the goal and Lorenzo Fornos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carmelo Barrera got free with Ladislao Villacorta in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Exeter City's zone, Augusto Suarez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Josue Sifon came out of the goal and Augusto Suarez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Torquay FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Exeter City's performance. The match ended with a win for Exeter City.
