Alejandro Alas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Marcos Ribeiro made a huge save. Marcelo Guevara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yasir Torres in the 29th minute of the match. After having played for 34 minutes, Elias Messias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Deportivo Olimpia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elias Messias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Olimpia's Libardo Umaña got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute Arturo Vinosis managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. A collision led to Club Deportivo Olimpia getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Camilo Bentos hit a great ball. In the 40th minute Gabriel Dubon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Ribeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elias Messias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Guevara having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gabriel Dubon was the one to do the kick off. Marcos Ribeiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gabriel Dubon's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. Gabriel Dubon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Marcos Ribeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Augusto Flores hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Elias Messias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute.
