The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dennys Renderos during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 5th minute, Dennys Renderos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcelo Ruiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Enrique Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelo Ruiz in the 9th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Azerbaiyan's goal looked a bit too open when Carmelo Barreto came free, but Miguel Rico reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pablo Barreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Miguel Rico tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 14 played minutes Azerbaiyan got a freekick which was hit by Cesar Campos. Miguel Rico showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pablo Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Adolfo Flores's late challenge caught a Futbol Club Astros's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adolfo Flores helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Futbol Club Astros booed when Azerbaiyan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adolfo Flores didn't get a good kick on the ball. Futbol Club Astros's Carmelo Barreto got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Pablo Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dennys Renderos was shown his second yellow card after 28 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Wilmer Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enrique Alvarenga having to interfere. Azerbaiyan's Marcelo Ruiz got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 41st minute, Pablo Barreto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Miguel Rico was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilmer Machado got free with Enrique Alvarenga in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 47th match minute, Futbol Club Astros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carmelo Barreto to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Marcelo Ruiz made the kick off in the second half. Pablo Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Rico having to interfere. In the 56th minute, Pablo Barreto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 56th match minute, Azerbaiyan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franklin Zaldaña to maneuver through the defense. Marcelo Ruiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A hard shot 68 in the game by Pablo Barreto from a close distance when the talented Miguel Rico managed to make a qualified save. Azerbaiyan's players were relieved. 69 minutes into the match, Futbol Club Astros's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo Ruiz came free, but Enrique Alvarenga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Marcelo Ruiz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Azerbaiyan's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcelo Ruiz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enrique Alvarenga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Ruiz in the 75th minute of play forced Futbol Club Astros's goalkeeper Enrique Alvarenga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 1-1 became the score in the 79th minute when Wilmer Machado elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Marcelo Ruiz took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Enrique Alvarenga. Enrique Alvarenga dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. When the referee ended the match the Azerbaiyan players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
