Enrique Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 6th minute Pablo Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shawn Barrera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Shawn Barrera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pablo Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Futbol Club Astros's zone, Waldir Henriquez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enrique Alvarenga came out of the goal and Waldir Henriquez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 12th minute Enrique Tobar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Alvarenga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Futbol Club Astros's Carmelo Barreto in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Worcester's goalie prevented a goal. After 21 played minutes Worcester got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Leiva. 22 minutes into the match, Futbol Club Astros's Ricardo Pérez broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 25th minute Carmelo Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shawn Barrera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Futbol Club Astros getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Ricardo Pérez hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute, Enrique Tobar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 35th minute, Waldir Henriquez fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Enrique Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrique Tobar in the 35th minute of play. If Waldir Henriquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rudy Verdugo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Edgar Sosa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Shawn Barrera. Worcester's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edgar Sosa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carmelo Barreto to make the kick off. Benji Hurtado charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Benji Hurtado the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Futbol Club Astros booed when Worcester was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benji Hurtado didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Waldir Henriquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enrique Tobar struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Enrique Alvarenga didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Worcester. After some careless play in the Futbol Club Astros defense, Waldir Henriquez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Enrique Alvarenga. The Futbol Club Astros fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Enrique Alvarenga should have stopped the shot. Rudy Verdugo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 68 minutes into the match, Futbol Club Astros's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Tobar came free, but Enrique Alvarenga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Carmelo Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrique Tobar in the 75th minute of play forced Futbol Club Astros's goalkeeper Enrique Alvarenga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 78 minutes into the match, Futbol Club Astros's Carmelo Barreto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Shawn Barrera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Waldir Henriquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enrique Alvarenga having to interfere. 88 minutes into the game, Rudy Verdugo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Futbol Club Astros's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Worcester the free kick. Worcester's Waldir Henriquez managed to work through Futbol Club Astros's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Waldir Henriquez dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Futbol Club Astros's Enrique Alvarenga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waldir Henriquez in the 96th minute of play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
