The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Edgar Renderos kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Carlos Orobio was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 7th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When the match clock showed 9 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Claudio Figueroa sped through FESI MASIA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Will Cetino. Will Cetino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudio Figueroa in the 14th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Marathón's Edgar Magaña got a free kick in the 15th minute. FESI MASIA's Will Cetino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Fornos in the 18th minute of play. The supporters of Marathón booed when FESI MASIA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelo Cortez didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Juan Barreto managed to get in a good position for a shot. FESI MASIA's supporters rose to their feet, but Juan Barreto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabio Cruz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Claudio Figueroa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute, Claudio Figueroa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The wind increased when Juan Barreto made the kick off in the second half. Claudio Figueroa struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Will Cetino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marathón. Marathón's Mauro Fornos got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, FESI MASIA's Marcelo Cortez got a free kick in the 56th minute. 57 minutes into the match, Marathón's Carlos Orobio broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. David Erazo hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. In the 68th minute, Richard Fernandez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 70 minutes, Juan Barreto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FESI MASIA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Juan Barreto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When David Erazo came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Marathón fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that David Erazo couldn't finish the play. 76 minutes into the match, FESI MASIA's goal looked a bit too open when Claudio Figueroa came free, but Will Cetino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eliseo Salguero kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. FESI MASIA's Will Cetino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Orobio in the 78th minute of play. Edgar Magaña charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edgar Magaña the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Marathón getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Fernandez couldn't finish the play. If Richard Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Milton Zepeda came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Marathón fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Milton Zepeda couldn't finish the play.
