An unexpectedly hard shot by Dennys Umanzor in the 10th minute of play forced Marathón's goalkeeper Fabio Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rony Alvarado came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Marathón's Claudio Figueroa. But to his dismay, Claudio Figueroa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Rony Alvarado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudio Figueroa, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute Claudio Figueroa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rony Alvarado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 32 minutes in the game, Agustin Quijada fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Fabio Cruz having to interfere. If Dennys Umanzor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Club Felipe Carrera's goal looked a bit too open when Claudio Figueroa came free, but Rony Alvarado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute Claudio Figueroa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rony Alvarado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rony Alvarado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Claudio Figueroa went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Rony Alvarado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Figueroa in the 44th minute of play. Agustin Quijada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabio Cruz having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Claudio Figueroa to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Club Felipe Carrera's Dennys Umanzor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fabio Cruz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Club Felipe Carrera's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Marathón the free kick. Ronald Del Cid hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. 71 minutes into the match, Mauro Fornos notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Club Felipe Carrera's Rony Alvarado. Rony Alvarado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Milton Zepeda during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 81st minute of the match, Mauro Fornos got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rony Alvarado was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After having played for 82 minutes, Claudio Figueroa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marathón's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudio Figueroa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudio Figueroa in the 84th minute of play forced Club Felipe Carrera's goalkeeper Rony Alvarado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mauro Fornos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Mauro Fornos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the game, Carlos Orobio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marathón's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Felipe Carrera the free kick. The supporters of Club Felipe Carrera booed when Marathón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Orobio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dennys Umanzor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Marathón players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
