Shireoaks FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Leopoldo Del Carmen in the 9th minute. The supporters of Marathón booed when Shireoaks FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alejandro Peredes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Esteban Moreira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mauro Fornos in the 13th minute. Marathón's Mauro Fornos got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Shireoaks FC's zone, Mauro Fornos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Esteban Moreira came out of the goal and Mauro Fornos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Shireoaks FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 22nd minute, when Claudio Figueroa scored to the left of an out of position Esteban Moreira, making the score, 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Shireoaks FC's zone, Claudio Figueroa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Esteban Moreira came out of the goal and Claudio Figueroa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Shireoaks FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Omar Medrano hit a great ball. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by Shireoaks FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Carlos Orobio was slow to take the kick. During this time Marathón's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Marathón's Carlos Orobio to fire away a dangerous shot which Esteban Moreira despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Giovani Arango fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Shireoaks FC's protests and gave Giovani Arango a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Marathón booed when Shireoaks FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giovani Arango didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jhalmar Ribeiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fabio Cruz having to make a save. If Josue Prado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, Shireoaks FC's Josue Prado sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fabio Cruz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 47th minute of the match Leopoldo Del Carmen shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fabio Cruz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jhalmar Ribeiro made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauro Fornos in the 53rd minute of play forced Shireoaks FC's goalkeeper Esteban Moreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th match minute, Marathón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Campos to maneuver through the defense. Josue Prado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Fabio Cruz made a huge save. 61 minutes into the match, Marathón's goalkeeper Fabio Cruz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Josue Prado. A collision led to Shireoaks FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Leopoldo Del Carmen hit a great ball. Esteban Moreira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Orobio in the 64th minute of play. In the 65th match minute, Shireoaks FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alejandro Peredes to maneuver through the defense. 70 minutes into the match, Shireoaks FC's goal looked a bit too open when David Erazo came free, but Esteban Moreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mauro Fornos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Esteban Moreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Josue Prados short, quick shot in the 76thth minute got Fabio Cruz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Mauro Fornos came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Marathón fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mauro Fornos couldn't finish the play. Claudio Figueroa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Esteban Moreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
