Patricio Melendez helped the player get up and apologised. Patricio Melendez kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. In the 9th minute of the match Carlos Orobio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pablo Carranza skillfully saved the ball. Pablo Carranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Figueroa in the 11th minute of play. Milton Zepeda hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Gilberto Campos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 17th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pablo Carranza. Thanet's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudio Figueroa in the 18th minute of play forced Thanet's goalkeeper Pablo Carranza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute, Luis Cabrera ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fabio Cruz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Luis Cabrera struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Fabio Cruz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Thanet. Thanet's Félix Fornos got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mauro Fornos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 37 played minutes Thanet got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Melendez. If Félix Fornos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th minute Félix Fornos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabio Cruz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Melendez, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luis Cabrera made a kick off. Luis Cabrera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Fabio Cruz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Luis Cabrera took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Fabio Cruz to make any attempt to save it. Marathón's Claudio Figueroa got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanet's Pablo Carranza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Fornos in the 66th minute of play. Claudio Figueroa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute, Mauro Fornos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Marathón fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 78th minute, one of Marathón:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Marathón. Carmelo Pérez placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Fabio Cruz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3.
