After 24 minutes, Edgar Renderos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FESI MASIA and the Marathón players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 24th match minute, FESI MASIA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgar Renderos to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of FESI MASIA booed when Marathón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Milton Zepeda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mauro Fornos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Will Cetino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Marathón's Claudio Figueroa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Will Cetino narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Juan Barreto was the one to do the kick off. Richard Fernandez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fabio Cruz having to make a save. If Claudio Figueroa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
