Ulises Arango showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paolo Machado in the 6th minute of the match. Grantham FC's Paolo Machado got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 15 minutes, Mauricio Najarro successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Gilberto Bonilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mauricio Najarro having to interfere. Gilberto Bonilla who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 25thth minute tested the skills of Mauricio Najarro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 27th match minute, Grantham FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alejandro Ulloa to maneuver through the defense. Rudy Parada hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Paolo Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grantham FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Paolo Machado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulises Arango breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fabio Guerra's late challenge caught a Grantham FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fabio Guerra helped the player get up and apologised. In the 39th match minute, Ponteland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabio Guerra to maneuver through the defense. Omar Fernandez kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dennys Moreno to make the kick off. If Dennys Moreno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ulises Arango showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dennys Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Mauricio Najarro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Medrano in the 74th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Grantham FC's zone, Gilberto Bonilla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mauricio Najarro came out of the goal and Gilberto Bonilla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Paolo Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilberto Bonilla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute, Grantham FC's Dennys Moreno dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Grantham FC were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Ponteland to leave the ground with a draw.
