But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonel Rosales couldn't finish the play. Ulises Castillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alonso Uranga having to interfere. When Spaxton's Emiliano Castaneda, in the 16th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Spaxton. The supporters of Spaxton booed when Winsford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Molina didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Winsford's Zelvin Batres got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Ovidio Ancheta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alonso Uranga having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Ovidio Ancheta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alonso Uranga was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Leonel Rosales's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Armando Flores read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Selvin Moreira's late challenge caught a Spaxton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Selvin Moreira helped the player get up and apologised. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emiliano Castaneda in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Armando Flores prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ulises Castillo to strike the kick off in the second half. Leonel Rosales sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 60th minute, Leonel Rosales got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ovidio Ancheta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Winsford's Ulises Castillo in the 81st minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Alonso Uranga was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Spaxton through an amazing save. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Ulises Castillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Winsford's supporters rose to their feet, but Ulises Castillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alonso Uranga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Spaxton's zone, Ovidio Ancheta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alonso Uranga came out of the goal and Ovidio Ancheta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 93 minutes, Emiliano Castaneda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Spaxton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emiliano Castaneda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th minute, Ulises Castillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Winsford supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Winsford would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
