Spectators: 6796 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1796, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Luis Verdugo started the match with the kick off. Amilcar Posadas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Sarbelio Hurtado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Franklin Fornos in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sarbelio Hurtado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sarbelio Hurtado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amilcar Posadas, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. If Amilcar Posadas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sarbelio Hurtado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amilcar Posadas in the 19th minute of the match. Luis Verdugo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henry Montes having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, Wilmer Alfaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 25 played minutes Poole got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Bran. Franklin Fornos might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sarbelio Hurtado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Franklin Fornos ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Amilcar Posadas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grimsby United's supporters rose to their feet, but Amilcar Posadas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sarbelio Hurtado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 32nd minute, Cristian Bran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Amilcar Posadas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sarbelio Hurtado was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. Poole's Sarbelio Hurtado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franklin Fornos in the 36th minute of play. Franklin Fornos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sarbelio Hurtado having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Grimsby United's Amilcar Posadas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sarbelio Hurtado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Amilcar Posadas was the one to do the kick off. When Cristian Cabrera fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Poole's protests and gave Cristian Cabrera a yellow card for diving instead. After 51 played minutes Poole got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Cabrera. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Verdugo in the 54th minute of play forced Grimsby United's goalkeeper Henry Montes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute Cristian Cabrera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henry Montes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Luis Verdugo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Poole's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Verdugo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henry Montes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alvaro Corpeño during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Grimsby United booed when Poole was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvaro Corpeño didn't get a good kick on the ball. Grimsby United's Wilmer Alfaro suffered a concussion after 62 minutes and had to leave the field. Cristian Bran hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Franklin Fornos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sarbelio Hurtado made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Franklin Fornos sent off a good shot on target. Henry Montes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luis Verdugo's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. A collision led to Grimsby United getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Ramon Pimentel hit a great ball. 79 minutes into the match, Cristian Cabrera notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Grimsby United's Henry Montes. Henry Montes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luis Verdugo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henry Montes having to interfere. Poole's Sarbelio Hurtado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Poole from getting a goal against them. Henry Montes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Cabrera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alvaro Corpeño kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. In the 96th minute, Ramon Pimentel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Poole's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
