Odir Guerrero took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 23rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eliseo Medina. El Quetzal F.C's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, Turnpike Lane's Edgardo Gallardo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eliseo Medina narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 36 minutes into the match, Turnpike Lane's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Coreas came free, but Eraldo Alas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Victor Coreas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of El Quetzal F.C booed when Turnpike Lane was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Odir Guerrero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eraldo Alas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro Guzman in the 44th minute of play. If Mauro Guzman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edgardo Gallardo was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, one of El Quetzal F.C:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for El Quetzal F.C. Eliseo Medina made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dagoberto Peña in the 58th minute of play. Edgardo Gallardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eliseo Medina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dagoberto Peña, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Alvaro Portillo's late challenge caught a El Quetzal F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alvaro Portillo helped the player get up and apologised. A nice corner shot did that Angel Díaz got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Eraldo Alas quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 83rd minute Victor Coreas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eraldo Alas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute, Jonathan Osorio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edgardo Gallardo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Eliseo Medina tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mauro Guzman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eraldo Alas having to interfere. In the 97th minute, Victor Coreas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Eraldo Alas. The goal made the score 1-2. The El Quetzal F.C supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing El Quetzal F.C would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
