Swadlincote's Francisco Gallardo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Misael Cruz in the 46th minute of play. When Nelson Ruiz came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Swadlincote fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nelson Ruiz couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Yate City's Edwin Castillo got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Jairo Fernandez fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Swadlincote's protests and gave Jairo Fernandez a yellow card for diving instead. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Swadlincote's goalkeeper Francisco Gallardo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nelson Ruiz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Ulises Aguilar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Jhonnatan Batres ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Francisco Gallardo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2.
