After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Raúl Cabrera managed to get in a good position for a shot. Puerto San José's supporters rose to their feet, but Raúl Cabrera was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Milton Padilla breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rudy Bonilla's late challenge caught a Puerto San José's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rudy Bonilla helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Puerto San José booed when Cóban Imperial was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rudy Bonilla didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abraham Sandoval received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Mariano Umaña tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 16 minutes of play, Cóban Imperial's Jhonnatan Carranza made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mariano Umaña was left in no man's land by his defense there! If William Posadas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Wilmer Dubon struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Milton Padilla didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Puerto San José. If William Posadas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Puerto San José's Armando Rodriguez couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Cóban Imperial. If William Posadas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Puerto San José's Andrés Peredes got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Milton Padilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Posadas in the 49th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when William Posadas made the kick off in the second half. Milton Padilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilmer Dubon, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. William Posadas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Milton Padilla having to interfere. Wilmer Dubon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Milton Padilla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Puerto San José's Mariano Umaña played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jhonnatan Carranza in the 67th minute of play. In the 68th minute, Augusto Mendoza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alejandro Rivas during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee gave Cóban Imperial a penalty, 72 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Sarbelio Cerritos, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Puerto San José's Mariano Umaña. 3-0. In the 79th minute Augusto Mendoza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariano Umaña saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If William Posadas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 85 minutes into the match, Puerto San José's goal looked a bit too open when Abraham Sandoval came free, but Mariano Umaña reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 93 minutes into the game, William Posadas lined in a short shot 3-1 behind a frustrated Milton Padilla. Mariano Umaña showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jhonnatan Carranza, who was totally free with the ball in the 99th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Cóban Imperial fans cheered their team off the field, for while Puerto San José had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
