The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of SPORTING TICO F.C. booed when Montezuma was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alain Pinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gerardo Moya charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vicente Calvo to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Gerardo Moya cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Andrei Hernandez showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Felipe Molina came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the SPORTING TICO F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felipe Molina couldn't finish the play. If Vicente Calvo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Montezuma fans cheered their team off the field, for while SPORTING TICO F.C. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
