When Pancho Portuguez fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palmar AFC's protests and gave Pancho Portuguez a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Palmar AFC getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Pancho Portuguez hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Sardinal de Carrillo's Reinaldo Pinto got a free kick in the 4th minute. After having played for 5 minutes, Jason Colon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmar AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jason Colon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jason Colon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Javier Arnaez having to interfere. Javier Arnaez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jason Colon, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. If Efren Ulloa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Javier Arnaez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jason Colon in the 17th minute of play. William Coto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sardinal de Carrillo's zone, Oldemar Solano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Javier Arnaez came out of the goal and Oldemar Solano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After recieving a nice pass, Palmar AFC's Pancho Portuguez tried to score from far away in the 27th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vinicio Montealegre during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 28 played minutes Sardinal de Carrillo got a freekick which was hit by Vinicio Montealegre. If Oldemar Solano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Sardinal de Carrillo getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Reinaldo Pinto hit a great ball. Oldemar Solano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Javier Arnaez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oldemar Solano made a kick off. Javier Arnaez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oldemar Solano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Agustin Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from William Coto, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 57th minute, Alfonso Badilla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Agustin Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Coto in the 59th minute of the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Palmar AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 66th minute. Penalty! Jason Colon might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Javier Arnaez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jason Colon ran back to his position shaking his head. Cid Peralta's late challenge caught a Palmar AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cid Peralta helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Sardinal de Carrillo's Cid Peralta got a free kick in the 87th minute. The Palmar AFC fans' excitement grew in the 89th match minute when Palmar AFC's Oldemar Solano looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Oldemar Solano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palmar AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Oldemar Solano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Javier Arnaez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Reinaldo Pinto charged in rather forcefully in the 98th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Reinaldo Pinto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Sardinal de Carrillo getting a freekick after 98 minutes play. Reinaldo Pinto hit a great ball. The audience held their breath when Efren Ulloa in the 100th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Javier Arnaez's left hand side. The Palmar AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Palmar AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
