Santa Rita FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benito Castillo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Eric Volio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alejandro Naranjo went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olger Gaitan in the 19th minute of play forced Santa Rita FC's goalkeeper Fabio Pinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Benito Castillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabio Pinto was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. In the 29th minute Benito Castillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Pinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Teodoro Soto kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Rita FC's zone, Olger Gaitan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabio Pinto came out of the goal and Olger Gaitan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eric Volio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alejandro Naranjo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Alejandro Chavarria put it in 3-2 from a short distance just to the right of Eric Volio.
